Faces of the Trust

Sandy Dickson
A curly headed boy of 14 who was always smiling tragically drowned in Canada in 2000 . The Trust was set up by his family and friends in his memory. Many of Sandy’s friends and relations are now involved with fundraising and holding events for the Trust.
Penny Dickson
Sandy’s mother , handles the applications from doctors and nurses and organises fundraising events and sponsorship in the Central Belt. Penny is seen here presenting a bag to a nurse on the island of Foula, in Shetland. Penny organised the Sandpiper Fashion Show in 2004 at Lanrick which raised £16,000 for the Trust.
Claire Maitland
Sandy’s aunt, whose idea it was to set up the Trust following a meeting with Dr Colville Laird and Dr Ewen McLeod from BASICS. Claire provides the link between the Sandpiper Trust and the Medical profession. Claire is closely involved with the NHS in the Grampian Region where she and her husband Robin co-ordinate fundraising and sponsorship for the Trust and hosted the wonderfully successful Dunecht Challenge in 2002 .
Aly Dickson
Sandy’s father, is responsible for preparing the Newsletters and other publicity material as well as handling most of the boring administrative work! Aly is seen here delivering, by helicopter, a bag to a doctor on the isle of Arran courtesy of H M S Gannett.
